Classes & Character Roles
In MUME, "Class" is not a rigid choice made at birth. While your Race determines your physical potential (stats), your Class is determined by where you spend your Practices.
The MUME Identity: Race defines your ceiling (maximum stats), while practices define your role. You can be a Mage-like Hobbit or a Warrior-like Elf, though some combinations are more natural than others.
The Five Archetypes
These are the primary "guilds" where you can train. Most players "multi-class" by mixing skills from several guilds.
| Class | Primary Focus | Key Skills/Spells |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Combat & Durability | Parry, Bash, Rescue, Weapon Skills |
| Mage | Offensive Magic | Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Sleep |
| Cleric | Healing & Support | Cure Critic, Sanctuary, Bless |
| Thief | Stealth & Burst | Backstab, Sneak, Hide, Pick Lock |
| Ranger | Tracking & Survival | Track, Search, Archery, Wilderness |
