A dagger is a piercing weapon. Daggers can be bought from most weapon shops for around 7 silver and also load on robbers, thieves and occasionally other humanoid mobiles.

>examine dagger
This blade is two sided, ten inches long and one inch wide. The hilt offers
little protection and the handle is large enough for the hand of a man. It is
otherwise a well balanced weapon, useful in close quartered combat.

Other

A different item with the same name is required for the Bree Weaponsmithquest. Its description is as follows:

> examine dagger

So ravaged by the passage of time that it has become barely useable in combat,
this ancient weapon, perhaps a relic of the First or Second Age, still retains
some of its original elegance. The hilt is finely chiselled, and the blade -
some thousand years ago - must have been extremely sharp.

> consider dagger

It is a dagger (worn out, antiquated).
This piercing weapon can be wielded one-handed.
It is awful while attacking and average while defending; its speed is very fast, and it inflicts very little damage upon hitting.
It weighs about one pound.
It looks quite impossible to mend.
