CHAPTER 1 OF 16

What is MUME?

Welcome to MUME

MUME - Multi-Users in Middle-earth - is a MUD: a world made of text, set in Tolkien's Middle-earth, played by hundreds of people at once and running since 1991.

You pick a side, create a character, and live in the world - explore, talk, trade, fight and take on quests, all by typing what you want to do (look, north, say hello). No install needed; you play in your browser.

You will steer a ready-made hero named Fuor to try each command. When you play for real, you will make your own character. Your first hour in Middle-earth begins now.
